We continued north into Scotland and a wee stop at Gretna Green where there were also some "hieland coos" before arriving for dinner in Glasgow.
Left at 8-30 to Lock Lomond and heard the story of the song - the high road is life, the low road is death on the blief that on death a person's soul returns to his homeland hence I'll be in Scotland before you! The Loch was so still with beuatiful reflections the sun's rays peeking through the clouds and reflecting off the surface. There was still some snow on Ben Lomond. Headed onto Inveruglas where we collected thos who had done a boat ride up the Loch - that is where our painting of Loch Lomond was done from (old Mr Hedley from East Kew days as a kid) hanging in our passage way. We then headed up into the highlands, across the Rannoch Moor with its rugged and wild bareness with brown splodges which will eventually burst inbto purple heather. Then down through the spectacular glacial valley of Glencoe (the McDonalds and the Campbells!) to Fort William then on a chairlift up Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the UK with its spectacular panoramic views of the Big Glen and snow lying all around. What a place for lunch! On coming down we travelled through the "Monarch of the Glen" country and saw some red deer in the wild, and then arrived at our Highlander Hotel in Newtonmore, a small Highland village - which does have WIFI access for us. We are in Inverness-shire and looking out at snow tipped mountains from our bedroom window. I'll put the two lots of photos together. Great to have emails etc from those followiong our adventures.
