Sun 11th
Great to be woken up to a wedding photo from Louise. Greetings were also sent to Wendy and Julie for their birthdays. We left the hotel at 8-15 and headed to the wharf where the Pilgrim Fathers left but we only went a short journey up the Tamar and not on the Mayflower although we had a delightful commentary as we toured the Harbour and the Naval docks across into Cornwall where we met the bus again. Then on through Graeme's deep past heritage - the Hosken towns of Redruth and Hayle both of which are in old tin mining areas and into St Ives. We had a Cornish pastie for lunch (Lamb and mint, and a vegetable one) as we sat on the waterfront and then a gentle stroll through the quaint village befoe we made the long climb back up the escarpment to the coach. We then followed a very narrow B road across to the English Channel side of Cornwall to Penzance and a photo shot of St MIchael's Mount, a sister priory of the one in Brittany. On the road again to a stop at a roadside pub - the Notterbridge for a Cornish afternoon tea of scone, jam and clotted cream with tea followed by ginger cake and fruit cake. There were some animals in the farmyard so we've included some meerkat for Ashley and Elijah and a big chook for Kealy and Caitlin. We'll rest tonight now before we head off again tomorrow for Glastonbury, Bath and then into Wales for the night at Cardiff.
